School Board Members & Other Educational Leaders

We believe elected school board members and educators have civic, educational, legal, and moral obligations to actively resist all forms of hate, especially racism and related forms of discrimination.

We believe that the two primary responsibilities of elected school boards are to: 1) ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students; and 2) to ensure that all students have legitimate opportunity to develop the skills necessary for a successful life.

We believe that both prospective and current school board members need, and should receive, rigorous, high-quality training from qualified experts to support them in the performance of their duties.

We believe that non-partisan elected school boards should focus on students, and carefully consider the attention and time they give political issues that may unduly distract from board focus on student success and wellbeing.
