Kellie May

Kellie is a life-long learner who has been dedicated to public education for 27 years. One of Kellie’s career highlights has been her involvement with AVID, a college preparation program for underrepresented students. Many of her former AVID students have pursued degrees in education and are currently teachers and leaders in the field. Kellie is the 2019 Utah State Teacher of the Year. She is currently an education specialist for Salt Lake City School District, focused on mentor teachers, new teacher support, and teacher recruitment. Kellie is also a District liaison and associate instructor for the University of Utah Urban Institute of Teacher Education. When not on the job, you can usually find Kellie reading a book or spending time with her family. In addition to a spouse who has supported her passion for education, she has two wonderful boys who have taught her a lot about life. Their experiences have carved out an extra special place in her heart for special educators and paraprofessionals.
